16 days

16, that’s the number of days the NYC Economic Development Corps has until the end of Summer on September 22nd.

But that’s only 11 working days so it looks like they’ve missed their deadline for another year.

The little Bronx-to-Randall’s bridge was first proposed
 in 2006, 9 years ago.

The Continental Congress founded a nation in less time.

So we rode over the Triborough Bridge and
played outside on Randall’s Island.

It’s a lot more bucolic than you’d think.

Add mini golf.

Plus 9 Beers on tap

With Guac and buffalo wings.

And deep fried onion rings.

See why we need this bridge?

It’s a golf club over there!

With balls and wings.

a chord progression you can’t refuse

Johann Pachelbel was a German, classical composer.

Born in Nurenburg in 1653,
he had a quite a knack for chord progression.

His Canon in D Major is a mindboggling success based on just four chords that influenced popular music for centuries to come.

Even the Beatles, Maroon5, Elton John and Lady Gaga,
all have sampled Johann.

In fact, scan this amazing list.

Every artist there has written or recorded a song based on just those four chords in his progression.

Don’t believe me?

Pachelbel is known as “the godfather of pop music”.

Have a great weekend!

The National Safety Council has been hoping for a decrease in texting-while-driving deaths, but this year they’ve been disappointed.

Traffic fatalities are up an amazing 14% in just six months---the largest six month jump for any reason ever, according to new data.

Why?

Drivers are addicted to their cell phones.

Accidents are increasingly violent and costly, too, up 24% in a single year to $152 billion in death, injury and property damage because people are simply no longer looking where they drive.

This growth indicates complacency with higher speeds while texting, too.

"Americans are addicted to these devices," NSC president Deborah Hersman said, and roadside surveys conducted by the NSC found a growing number of Americans are on their phones while at the wheel despite the law.

The NSC is considering much tougher legislation.

Is that too much?

Or is it better texting drivers kill more people.

I cloud nine when I want to

natgeo

I’m troubled by the lack of clean drinking water in Africa.

I had an idea, and posted it here:

Global brands should give any airline passenger with an African destination two small bottles of their water.

Passengers can drink one on the way if they promise to deliver the other bottle to a collection kiosk at the other end.

Clean water would flood in on every flight, every minute.

I took my idea to a half-dozen water companies.

They were polite, but nobody bit.

Now filmmaker and Bronx native Mary Jordan is raising awareness through watertank art.

I think it’s awful little kids don’t have clean water to drink.

president or bust

By now you’ve probably heard Kanye has declared
for the 2020 presidential race.

We’re a long way from President Reagan.

Presidents are often honored in stone busts.

If the thought of President West's bust doesn’t frighten you, not much will.

Then there’s First Lady Kim’s bust.

And Nancy’s.
