60 months

If most of what you know about New York mayors is summed up in our current sadsack,

you owe it to yourself to read up on Mayor Ed Koch.

Ed loved this town.

He was a feisty man of the people.

He died five years ago, today.

We could use him right about now.

No, thank you, Mr. Mayor.

all about the Benjamin

Philadelphia's Pennsylvania Hospital is historic for several reasons.

Founded by Dr. Thomas Bond in 1751, it was the result of the Doctor’s recent visit to London.

There he discovered the hospital concept and resolved to establish one in Philly, then the capital of the United States.

The Pine Building east wing dates from 1755.

The west wing from 1797.

And the center building dates back to 1804.

Ambulances are still housed in the original carriage house.

The Pine Building is still considered one of the finest surviving examples of classic 18th century architecture in all of America.

Guess who else was also a founder.

Benjamin Franklin, 1706-1790.

Because it was 1700’s Philadelphia.

Because of course he was.

your guess is as good as mine

Hoe Garden is a small quarter acre plot northeast of here
 along Bruckner Blvd.

The Garden is named after Richard Morris Hoe (1812-1886),
a member of the prominent Bronx family.

It has nothing to do with the famous white beer
despite sharing a similar name.

how does God always know where I am?

The Mormon Church has announced its 17th president,
93 year old Russell M. Nelson.

A surgeon, Dr. Nelson has been tasked with bringing the Church into the 21st century.

He has been elected to make the Church of Latter Day Saints more internet friendly, making the religion more meaningful for Generation Z.

Realizing the value of a more youthful approach, he has named a counselor to assist him, Dallin H. Oaks, 86.
