London needs a bolder public

London Mayor Sadiq Khan got it wrong when he said “city people will just have to get used to terrorism.”

This is actually incorrect. We do not.

He also said terror attacks are “part and parcel” of urban living.

They are not, actually. And he is wrong to try to make it normal.

Over the weekend Police arrested more than a dozen people in east London with enough connection to this terror that they were arrested under current British law. The first 12.

Imagine 24 more in the same community intimately associated with those 12. And another 48 living in the same buildings, worshipping at the same Mosque and having the same certain knowledge through conversation, but they keep what they know to themselves.

Acknowledging religious, extremist behavior with politically correct normalization is a part of why this problem is growing.

So Mayor Khan, I disagree, I say we'd better get alarmed soon and nobody ever should get used to this. As a leader you are inspirationally backwards.

London needs a bolder public; generous and respectful but less afraid of frank talk, if that’s what it takes to clean house in the Muslim community.

but no pinball machine

It’s Friday night and time for a drink or three,
but I’m afraid we are on the wrong side of the pond!

The “Best Bar in the World” is, in fact, in London, England.

Located in the spectacular Langham Hotel in Marylebone,
the “Artesian” has won this honor for the last three years running in a row.

What makes it so great?

Well, start with an interior so tony it might make you wish your clothing was bespoke and not off the rack.

Then layer on superb service within a succulent lavendar leather atmosphere.

And then offer a range of custom cocktails so outrageously creative one of them comes in a wooden box that’s full of smoke.

The food is just as insane.
Our sushi came scooped into sugar cones!

As you might expect, four drinks and a quality nosh will set you back the downpayment on a very nice car.

But hey.

It’s Friday night.

So have a great weekend!

takes one to know one

Price gas high enough and people will turn to two wheels.
Guerrilla bikes are a way of life in Europe.

All over London, rows of high-speed, high mileage machines made this visiting New Yorker’s mouth water.

I met this guy in Brighton, up from Germany on a BMW R1100RS.

But where bikes go, so can the occasional mishap.

And what better way for help to arrive quickly than on a motorcycle itself?

The Smithfield Ambulance Station in London is just such a service, using repurposed Honda ST-1300’s as EMT vehicles.

Marketed in Europe as the “Pan European”, this Honda is quiet and powerfully smooth and bulletproof reliable, and it carries a load of emergency equipment with ease.

Take a fall and skin your knee?

Smithfield will come to get you.

Happy Monday!
