Happy 2th!

We wandered the canyons of Osaka eating cold seafood.

I was craving a burger and a beer with a side of onion rings.

Then we found CrittersBurger! Yes!

Styled like an American coffeehouse...

...CrittersBurger proved better than its name. The beers were small but the rings were pretty good.

And the burger hit the spot.

And they deliver!

Just don’t ask what the critter is.

Happy Tooth!

Brace yourself, bacon prices are ballooning.

It’s a combination of factors.

Americans consumed about 45 pounds of pork per capita in 2011, but drought has driven the cost of feed and pork prices will soon reflect that.

The US Department of Agriculture forecasts another rise of 3 percent, after an 8.5 percent rise in 2010 and a 1.0 to 2.0 percent rise this year.

275 million views

A partnership with Jill Stuart, that's what 275 million YouTube views are worth.

Together they cross market their clothing line in Asia only, and he takes his cut for bringing a lot of eyes. A lot, and that's how you do it these days.

You can see their video here first:

You know the tune already. ;-)

Even the presidential candidates agree this is absurd.

So does INTEL:

"Frankly, by sending this message, Intel is upholding the true spirit of Scouting better than the BSA is today."

fancy while you wait

Architecture and design often reflect public state of mind, and the majestic prow of 691 Gerard Avenue is exemplary.

It cleaves the neighborhood like a giant ocean liner.

Built in the Highbridge section of the Bronx in 1929 at the height of the roaring 20’s...

...691 Gerard is an exuberant contemporary of Manhattan’s majestic Tudor City, also finished in 1929. You can see the similarities.

Life was a party in the 1920’s and the resultant stone and brickwork is very showoff-fancy.

This original gargoyle is typical in Nantwich, England, southeast of Liverpool.

Not to be outdone, American architects embraced and repeated these decorative motifs, in what was called “Tudor Revival style” when money was no object.

But it was not to last.
The crash in October 1929 took seven years for real recovery.

These proud buildings often sat empty while the workforce sought out breadlines.
