light breakfast

Philadelphia’s Bellevue-Stratford Hotel opened back in 1904.

Built as faux French Renaissance, it was easily the best hotel in Philly and an authentic rival to our own Waldorf Astoria.

Plus it was huge for the time.

19 stories, over 1000 rooms, and the most lavish ballroom in the entire United States.

Something else set it apart, too, the rotundas on the roof.

They’ve been used for fancy special events for over a century, entertaining royalty, world leaders and the spectacularly wealthy.

But regular folks like us can enjoy a very nice breakfast in the rotunda.

The period detailing has been lovingly restored.

My favorite detail is the 1940’s lighting fixtures as sculptural objects in each niche.

But that might be because I’ve hung the same lighting fixtures in my loft.

that's so mean

There was a report we lost Don Rickles on April 6 of this year.

But I think he got botox, transitioned and went into Florida politics.

just a theory.

As I was walking down the street one day

Does anybody really know what time it is?

Does anybody really care?

the circle game

Last week two Israeli policemen were shot and killed in a Jerusalem terror attack. Three Arab’s smuggled guns into Temple Mount, so the Israeli’s installed metal detectors and kept it open.

The Palestinian’s were outraged but not at the bloodshed.

The detectors were seen as a provocation of war.

The Arab League demanded the removal of the detectors.

Palestinians rioted in the streets and so the Israeli's closed the Temple for awhile.

And Hamas called for an increase in these kind of personal attacks.
