panty pics protected speech

dailymail

The First Amendment was submitted to the states for ratification on September 25, 1789, and came into effect in 1791.

Good thing for Ronald Thompson, a Texan in his early fifties.

Back in March we ran a story about how a female judge in Massachusetts found it legal to shoot photos up a woman’s skirt.

Now incredibly, Texas has followed suit and set Thompson free.

The highest court in the state--and not incidentally another female--Judge Sharon Keller has ruled it is not a criminal act “to take surreptitious images in public for the purposes of sexual gratification.”

And therefore protected by the First Amendment.
So give this kid a camera.

stop horsing around

It’s no secret animal rights money helped put our mayor into office.

It is also well known he promised to shut our carriage trade down on “day one.”

He’s failed so far, and that’s a good thing for New York.

According to a Quinnipiac poll ⅔’s of all New Yorkers want the mayor to drop it, and pay attention to real issues.

That’s a landslide.

Homelessness has increased every month
since the mayor took office back in January.

 July

Despite support for the horses from veterinarians and celebrity, the Mayor plows ahead with new plans for a “pathway to an ultimate ban.”

The Mayor is wrong on this issue.

I don’t care if he owes this favor to deep pockets that helped elect him.

Our carriage horses have excellent nutrition and quality shelter, plus regular medical care and 5 weeks guaranteed vacation every year in leafy pastures.

While our homeless prepare for winter,
the mayor lumbers on.

There’s no better place in the Bronx
to say goodbye to Summer

than City Island.

Tonight at 10:29pm the sun passes over the equator from north to south making day and night nearly the same.

Cathédrale des Gains mal Acquis

French Canadian Roman Catholics founded St. Jean Baptiste in a 77th Street stable in 1882, then later at a small building on east 76th Street.

One Sunday a parishioner and his wife arrived a bit late for mass and found standing room only.

But this was no ordinary churchgoer, this was Thomas Fortune Ryan, a well known cutthroat who had made $10’s of millions of dollars in stocks and banking, tobacco and insurance and transportation operations, some of it reputedly under shady circumstances.

"How much" he asked the priest, "would cost to build a new church?"
The priest answered off the top of his head
(according to wikipedia),

"$300,000."

Ryan replied, "Get me some plans and I will pay for it."
They broke ground in 1910 and finished in 1913,
exactly 100% overbudget.

Then again, the $600,000 final cost included some of the finest stained glass windows in the city, hand crafted in Chartres, France.

For his part, Ryan had no complaints.
For one thing, he got a nice church.

For another, he died in 1923 worth $155 million, or about 1/633 of the entire United States Gross National Product at the time.
