While millions of Brazilians toss their trash onto the beach, their government is spending billions it does not have for stadiums and other Olympic facilities.


The sewage system pumps the raw effluent of about 80% of Rio’s 12 million people directly into the bay where swimming and sailing and rowing competitions are to be held.



Brazil promised they would fix this and the world’s best athletes trusted in them.



Two days to the opening ceremonies, disease-causing pathogens in the water are estimated to be 1.7 million times the level considered hazardous on a California beach.

Stay tuned for deathly sick athletes, medals lost to illness, subsequent lawsuits and a dawning awareness that some cultures are just not worthy of hosting these events.
