blurred lines

Mark Rothko was an American abstract expressionist often mentioned alongside Willem de Kooning and Jackson Pollack.

His paintings of color-saturated rectangles are highly prized today.

Some years ago I found a rug at the Bronx ABC Carpet outlet that reminded me of a Rothko I had seen at the Whitney.

So I bought it and I used it as wall art in a condo lobby.

In 2012, one of Rothko's works sold for
$86.9 million dollars.

(But you can shoot your own in the subway for free.)

Happy Monday!
