It was a cool Saturday evening in the Fall of 1968
and Jack had a date with Diane.
He dressed sharp, arrived at her house and rang the door bell
a little nervous.
“Oh Hi Jack!, please, come in!” Diane's mother said.
“And Jack, don’t you look so nice!”
“She’ll be down in a minute,
go sit with her Father in the living room.”
“Would you like something to drink? Lemonade?
Perhaps iced tea?
“Iced tea, please,” Jack said.
She brought the iced tea in with a napkin on a tray.
“So, what are you and Diane planning to do tonight?”
Diane’s Father asked.
“Oh, we’re going to a movie and
then we’ll get a hamburger if it’s not past Diane’s curfew.”
