my heart needs protection, and so do I

Hard rocker Neil Young of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young fame is a songwriter as well as a famously driven performer, but he also has a soft, romantic side exemplified on his “Harvest Moon” album from 1992.

But many don’t realize he’s also the composer of a well-loved song from the late 1970‘s called “Lotta Love” recorded by his back-up singer girlfriend at the time, Nicolette Larson. She sang behind him on Harvest Moon, too.

It was a radio-smash-hit playing everywhere and it reached #1 on the BillBoard Easy Listening chart.

Folk-rock was the era of Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Joni Mitchell and Maria Muldaur, but Nicolette Larson certainly left her mark. She passed away at only 45 in 1997 from cerebral edema.

This wonderful song from ‘78, lives on.
