Sandy leaves us stumped

Central Park closed for almost 2 weeks after Sandy. “Too many trees down” was the reason the guard told me at the time.

They reopened yesterday morning.

Holy smokes.

Sandy beat the crap out of Central Park.

“We’ve cataloged 798 trees affected so far,” the Park guy told me, “and we still have quite a ways to go.”

“The park will lose nearly a thousand trees before this clean up is completed.”

There are 849 acres in Central Park.

On average, every acre lost a tree.
