The Living Memorial Grove out by the Whitestone Bridge was a 9/11 gift of condolence from His Serene Highness, Prince Albert of Monaco.
Here’s the story from Thursday, Oct 30, 2003:
The city is on the far skyline.
LaGuardia is right across the water.
They planted a small bunch of trees in memoriam.
It’s nice out here. Secluded. Quiet.
But it's hard to get to without a car.
Didn’t I just give credit to Prince Charles the other day?

Blame it on the Olympics. :-)
