I got all my sisters an' me

This series of sculptural figures mounted on the wall of 737 Southern Boulevard is called “We Are Family”.
It is similar to other pieces by artist John Ahearn (b. 1951) and his assistant Rigoberto Torres (b. 1960).

They are cast in fibreglass, and date from 1982.

The NYC art commission proclaimed this piece the most effective public sculpture of that year.

Hm. They’re everywhere.
