The Bronx? You never left.

Back on June 4th ClockTowerTenants visited City Island, our saltwater jewel to the north.

It’s sandy here but it’s also green and leafy and feels as clean as the Catskills.

Nowhere is it more upscale than at the tony yachting clubs, old school bastions of tall masts, taller tales, boating shoes and drinks on the shaded terrace. This is the Bronx?

Purchased in 1921, the City Island clubhouse is welcoming and brimming with sailing memorabilia.

The spoils of successful campaigns are everywhere.

It appears there’s a fire in winter...

...and plaques with names hang on every wall, bringing mention and honor to a long line of competitive sailors.

What club house is complete without a bar? This one is decorated with carved hull models for the off days when high winds and whitecaps keep the smaller boats at bay.

It’s very pleasant here. What’s the best thing about hanging out at the City Island Yacht Club?

It feels like you are nowhere near the city.

Except, y’know, you never left.
Happy Fourth!
