I’m sitting here listening to Davina and reading about DJ Anita Sarko in the 1980’s.
For most New Yorkers, the 80’s were a well paid party, a runaway train of intoxicant’s and not-so-quiet indescretions.
Anita Sarko was the very best host.
She went to school for child psychology and once said in an interview:
Over time HIV took its awful toll, the clubs closed down
and Anita tried hard to adapt.
For awhile she curated cd’s for shopping music and “keep it cool” is still one of the best captures of the era.
And Davina?
She was so good.
