Now that data is documenting how young people are addicted to their smartphones, McDonalds has tried to do something about it.
They created a locker called “Phone OFF Fun ON” where diners can lock their phones to spend more time with each other.
The campaign was a 100% failure.
Not one locker was used during the one month trial period.
So they changed the campaign and tried again.
They asked their customers to simply SET THE PHONES DOWN
on a place indicated on each table.
But people couldn't do it.
Not one friend, parent or child could set their phone down
long enough to finish a meal.
Psychologists are concerned.
Our phones are replacing our calendars, our cameras,
our alarm clocks,
and increasingly our families.
