stairway to heaven

Begun in 1386 and at 350 feet tall,
Milan’s Duomo Cathedral is well worth the climb.

The stairs are worn and winding, just as you’d expect.

And the stairs do go on and on.

And on.
It’s the fifth largest Christian Church on the planet.

Canals had to be constructed to bring the marble in from almost 60 miles away.

Keep climbing. Stay away from the low parapets.

And don’t look down.

30 stories later, you’ll find your way to the roof.

The Duomo Milan was built off and on for centuries.

Napoleon actually finished building it at the start of the 1800's.

You are now 350 feet closer to heaven.

And the view from up there is, of course, is heavenly.
