nothing hippocritical

Hippo Ballerina is the inspiration of Degas’ Little Dancer Aged 14” and the dancing hippos in Walt Disney’s FANTASIA.

She stands over 15 feet tall right out in front of Lincoln Center.

She’s cast in bronze and wears a copper tutu and weighs in at over 5000, well-disciplined pounds.

She’s the work of Danish artist Bjørn Okholm Skaarup.
You can see something about him here:

Florence, Italy is the sculpture capital of the world and so Skaarup cast her and assembled her there.

She shipped face down and will leave the square after July 31, 2017.

Go see her! and have a great weekend.
