Having been raised Christian, I associate red wine with communion. Christians “commune” with God by tossing down a small shot glass of “the blood of Jesus Christ.”

So why are Jews so happy tonight? 

Well, for one thing, our Jewish friends are celebrating liberation. What’s not to be happy about?

But for another--if I understand this correctly-- the Jewish faithful are compelled to drink almost a bottle of red tonight.
