Our local movie shoot arrived about 3am this morning with 2 dozen big trucks. They set up, shot and blew town and not a single movie star did I see.
Kristen Wiig and Ben Stiller

Not one.
I did see a secret-service-lookin-guy driving a black stretch bmw limo with blackout windows. But I never saw inside.
I walked through the set and up the bridge stairs in the background.
Check this out:
A bank of Arri’s blowing huge, bluish light into the southfacing windows.
On scissor-lift platforms, no less. Fantastic. Guy stuff.
And on Mott’s Wall?! awesomeness.
I'm a Clocktower tenant, and a film crew worker. I have friends that are on that job. I do props. I was glad to see a shoot happening in our great hood. It's so very historic and photographic around here. Surprised that more shoots don't happen around here. We in the biz hate that we take up folks parking and sidewalk access. We do hope that the locals benefit from all the $ spread around by shoots like this.
ReplyDeleteI first discovered this building when I was working on "Law and Order", and we shot near here.
This day put a lot of union people to work. IATSE people, thats grip/elec, props, Hair/Make-up, wardrobe, etc. Of course there's Teamsters, and guilds, like DGA, and SAG.
Yeah, you are not likely to see a movie star on a film set. Often they are made-up beyond recognition. Ironic in a way. They are shuttled from trailer to set, and back. Avoiding paparazzi is big in a big budget film like this one.
Hope that my biz friends did not upset anyones life too much.
A wonderful time was had by all. I enjoy watching movie magic. Please tell them welcome back anytime. Or let's make a local short.
