The Shell station on Third Avenue got a gas delivery the other day.
The driver told me the tanks are made of aluminum because it's inexpensive, it doesn't rust, it's lightweight and it doesn't spark when struck.
He also explained the tank itself is internally subdivided into five segments, so that a puncture of a fully loaded fuel truck can lose only one fifth of its payload at most.
